It was fun &#8230; and I did not fall on my freaking a!%<br \/>\n<\/strong>I want to personally thank everyone for all their support and votes! I trained hard and danced my heart out Charleston-ing on stage. YES \u2013 it was stressful! But I\u2019m happy to say I now know how to do something other than disco down, thanks to my dancing instructor Josh Welter!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4017\/4443585268_2e590d0530_m.jpg\" alt=\"KathyJosh\" width=\"274\" height=\"224\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 274px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 274\/224;\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Josh and I in our dance outfits!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It all came together this past Sat., Mar. 13th. The event started at 5:30 pm but I was up and getting ready at 11:00 am! I can\u2019t say that I was that nervous \u2026 okay, who am I kidding? I was absolutely jittery and panicky! I\u2019d rather shake up a cocktail or cook up a storm in front of thousands than do the Charleston in front of the judges. Sheesh!<\/p>\n<p>The night started off with a signature cocktail called the Lizzie Highfly that my gang shook up in honor of a great 1929 Charleston dancer. It\u2019s fresh raspberries, Pearl Vodka and fresh lemon juice, topped with a lush raspberry foam made with Monin Raspberry Syrup and a sprinkle of edible gold flakes!<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2802\/4443585372_fa3d174872_m.jpg\" alt=\"Cocktail\" width=\"270\" height=\"196\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 270px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 270\/196;\" \/><br \/>\nThe super d\u2019lish Lizzie Highfly cocktail!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Then there was a silent auction and then a live auction during dinner\u2014I wasn\u2019t really sure what went on during this time because I was in the green room getting ready!<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4058\/4442809829_70b7eee6bc_m.jpg\" alt=\"Marco\" width=\"274\" height=\"204\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 274px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 274\/204;\" \/><br \/>\nThe fabulous Marco of Marco Salon giving me<br \/>\nfinger-waves for a classic 1930\u2019s look!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The dancers took the stage at around 8:45 and we gave it our all! All the dance sets were incredible. You can watch the event on the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seattledances.org\">Seattle Dances! website<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Because of your help, the other dancers and myself, as well as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.plymouthhousing.org\">Plymouth Housing Group<\/a><\/span> raised over $400,000! That\u2019s just truly amazing! None of us could have done it without your amazing inspiration, great encouragement, and wonderful resolve to support the Plymouth Housing Group.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2798\/4443585352_bb8cb8c919_m.jpg\" alt=\"Group\" width=\"269\" height=\"193\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 269px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 269\/193;\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Steven Goldfarb, me, Giuseppe Grazioli (our fabulous costume designer),<br \/>\nand Cathi Hatch minutes before our big performances!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So congrats to all the winners\u2014which in my book we all were! Even though Seattle Dances! is over now, I still want to keep on dancing! West Coast swing dancing anyone?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Razor Clam Lovers Unite!<br \/>\n<\/strong>It\u2019s almost here! Sat., Mar. 27th in Ocean Shores, Washington. I will be hosting <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oceanshores.org\/clams.html\">the 4th Annual Razor Clam Festival<\/a><\/span> from 10:00 \u2013 6:00 pm at the Ocean Shores Convention Center. It\u2019ll be a clam-tastic event filled with lots of great activities: a clam dance, a clam chowder cook-off, and of course, razor clam digging!<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2777\/4442809733_e342a66c89_m.jpg\" alt=\"ClammingBoots\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><br \/>\nMy fabulous clamming boots!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Firefighters&#8217; All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast will precede clam fest activities from 7:00\u20139:45 am. Tickets are $5 at the door. (The breakfast is ok but the firemen who serve it are HOT\u2026 and that just makes it better!)<\/p>\n<p>Events will include live music all day long, an Artisans&#8217; Marketplace featuring NW artists, contests for the best\u2013decorated clam shovel &amp; clam gun (CRAFTERS take note!!) and a Kids Zone with visits from the Ocean Shores Pirates. And of course there\u2019s lots of clam chowder, great Bloody Mary\u2019s and plenty of good eats!<\/p>\n<p>Come join me for fun clam festivities! Admission is $2 for adults, and children under 12 are free! A great deal for a weekend trip to enjoy some good salt air and get your fill of clams!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Buzz is on \u2026<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u2026and the bees will be a lot closer than you think! The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kathycasey.com\/dish_d_lish.html\">Ballard Dish D\u2019Lish<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ballardbeecompany.com\">Ballard Bee Honey<\/a><\/span> have plans in the works to install hives in our back garden area. Beekeeper and honey man extraordinaire, Corky Luster, reassures us (and I\u2019m not the biggest fan of bee stings!) that the bees are docile and super\u2013passive. I know because all last summer his bees were zooming around our back garden\u2014especially near our fennel\u2014and didn\u2019t mind me getting in their way at all.<\/p>\n<p>Have you tried Ballard Bee Honey yet? Hey! I even got to be a taste tester when she was writing this book. I give it a full D\u2019Lish recommendation!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&amp;field-keywords=discover+cooking+with+lavender\">Discover Cooking with Lavender<\/a><\/span> by Kathy Gehrt \u2013 now you\u2019ll know what to do with this beautiful flower\u2014from appetizers to drinks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Egypt \u2013 Yes, I am jealous I didn\u2019t go!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But, hey, I\u2019ve been to Miami for the Cheers Beverage conference \u2026 Vegas for the Night Club and Bar Show \u2026 BUT Keith Waldbauer, my Sr. Mixologist Associate, did get to go to Egypt, where he opened the new <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairmont.com\/nilecity\/GuestServices\/Restaurants\/\">Fairmont Nile City\u2019s<\/a><\/span> bars and trained all the bar staff. Keith had an amazing trip.
