If you\u2019re hosting a fiesta, a beer based punch is a great option to make bartending a breeze! Try my recipe for <strong>Hoppy Melon Rita Punch<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fremontbrewing.com\/43\/the-beer.html\">Fremont Summer Solstice Ale<\/a>, fresh citrus, diced watermelon, and tequila \u2013 Yum!<\/p>\n<p>And if you\u2019re looking for an alternative to the classic margarita, how about a <a href=\"http:\/\/beer.about.com\/od\/drinksmadewithbeer\/r\/chelada.htm\">chelada<\/a>! Originating over 75 years ago, this classic is now a drink staple. Made with Mexican beer, the juice of one lime, and served over ice in a salt rimmed glass. Refreshing!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michelada\">Michelada<\/a> is another variation with added spices, sauces, and peppers. Some people also make it with a splash of tomato juice, too.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Cinco de Mayo! \u2013Kathy<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2924\/14080113002_e58a85365f_m.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" alt=\"Hoppy Melon sm\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 240px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 240\/160;\"><br \/>\n<strong>Photo by Kathy Casey Liquid Kitchen\u00ae<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hoppy Melon Rita Punch<\/strong><br \/>\nMakes 16 \u2013 20 servings<\/p>\n<p>zest of 2 limes (zest before squeezing for juice)<br \/>\n1 cup sugar<br \/>\n1 bottle (750 ml) silver tequila<br \/>\n1 cup fresh lime juice<br \/>\n1 cup Ruby Grapefruit Juice Cocktail<br \/>\n1 cup fresh orange juice<br \/>\n2 cups diced fresh watermelon<br \/>\n2 (12 ounce) bottles Fremont Summer Solstice Ale<br \/>\nGarnish: fresh watermelon wedges<\/p>\n<p>In a large punch bowl (or large container such as a stock pot or pitcher) combine the lime zest, sugar, tequila, juices, and watermelon. Stir to combine well. (At this point you can refrigerate the punch for service up to 3 days in advance). Present in a large punch bowl. Add ale right before serving.
