Some very new\u2014and some not so new that have taken me awhile to get to. What with the sagging economy it is important that folks support their local eateries. And it looks like that is happening. Restaurants that I have gone to lately seem to be fairly busy at dinner, and new openings are announced every week. So here&#8217;s my list of neighborhood restaurants for you to get out and try \u2026 you&#8217;ll be happy you did!<\/span><\/em><\/h1>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\">\n<h1 style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-style: normal;font-family: Arial\">New and fairly new places to check out<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\"> <\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-style: normal;font-family: Arial\">Anchovies &amp; <\/span><\/strong><\/em><span class=\"grame\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\">Olives<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\">Ethan <span class=\"spelle\">Stowell\u2019s<\/span> newest gem opened just recently\u2014a<span class=\"grame\">nother tasty addition to the <\/span><span class=\"spelle\">already<\/span><span class=\"grame\"> <\/span><span class=\"spelle\">stellar<\/span><span class=\"grame\"> line up of Capitol Hill restaurants.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\">\u201cThe idea behind the menu,\u201d says <span class=\"grame\">Stowell,<\/span> \u201cis that every dish will have a seafood element. Yes, we will have some meat on the menu, but it will be something like beef <span class=\"spelle\">Carpaccio<\/span> with white anchovy, shallots, and <span class=\"spelle\">Parmigiano-Reggiano<\/span>.\u201d <span class=\"spelle\">Highlights<\/span> include Sea Scallops with Grapefruit and Mint ($12), <span class=\"spelle\">Hamachi<\/span> with Blood Orange and Fennel Pollen ($14), Spaghetti with Sea Urchin and Jalape\u00f1o ($16), and <span class=\"spelle\">Branzino<\/span> with Artichokes and <span class=\"spelle\">Bottarga.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\">Anchovies &amp; Olives is located at <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\">1550 15th Ave<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\"> in the booming Capitol Hill neighborhood known as the Pike Pine Triangle. Barrio features a menu that takes a Northwest approach to Mexican-inspired cuisine. Recently I had dinner seated at the bar with my husband John and friend Michelle and we had a really great meal. The drinks, on the other hand, were <strong>fantastic!<\/strong> We loved the creative and expertly made cocktails. My favorite <span class=\"spelle\">was<\/span> the <strong>Desert Healer<\/strong>, made with American straight gin, orange juice, cherry <span class=\"spelle\">Heering and<\/span> ginger beer. Also extraordinary was <span class=\"grame\">their Margarita<\/span>\u2014shaken with reposado tequila,\u00a0<span class=\"spelle\">Damiana<\/span> orange liqueur, lime juice, agave nectar and salt. And this is the place to have small plates\u2014both Duo of Salsas (pick from roasted tomatillo serrano, grape tomato, avocado, fire-roasted tomato habanero, smoky ancho chile) with yucca, plantain and corn chips, and the Guacamole are a must. Other tasty choices include Pork Cheek Tamale and a variety of <span class=\"spelle\">ceviches<\/span>. I love that they have a section on the menu that lists &#8220;Friends&#8221;\u2014local producers like the Yoshimura Family &#8211; Mutual Fish, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\">Oyster Bill<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Arial\"> &#8211; Taylor Shellfish and Joan <span class=\"spelle\">Monteille &#8211;<\/span> <span class=\"spelle\">Monteille<\/span> <span class=\"spelle\">Fromagerie <\/span>\u2026 to name a few. The menu features small dishes, seafood, charcuterie and main courses, so there\u00a0are <span class=\"spelle\">plenty<\/span> of ways to make your meal. Be sure to try the Alder Smoked Oysters\u2014in olive oil with roasted peppers. The first on the block was <span class=\"spelle\">Shiku<\/span> Sushi, ow<span class=\"grame\">ned by the charming Rob Kim, who always greets you with a smile.<\/span> I pop in often for my favorite, the Opiate cocktail made with Tanqueray, absinthe and a touch of Midori. A<span class=\"grame\">ccompany\u00a0it<\/span> with small plates from their\u00a0<span class=\"spelle\">Izakaya<\/span> menu and a few pieces of sushi. As you enter you will be awed by the lit-up giant cherry blossom tree\u2014very cool! Travis imbibed a Spice Trade cocktail accompanied with skillfully prepared sushi.
